Ring Sizing
Goldmark Jewelers can re-size your gold, silver and platinum rings. We'll take your ring measurement, look over your ring and determine the best way to make it fit. Cost is based on what metal the ring is, the width and weight of the shank, and the number and setting style of stones if they need to be removed before sizing.
Restoration
Overly worn, thin shanks cannot be correctly sized and need to have the bottom half of the ring replaced with a new piece of metal in a technique known as half-shank replacement. Cost is based on the metal type, width, weight, and finger size of the new shank. A rebuilt shank will give you many more years to enjoy a favorite ring.
Rebuilding and Stone Setting
Over 35 years of repairing people's jewelry we've worked on good looking rings that simply were not made to stand up to prolonged wear and hold the stones securely. Stones are lost when prongs securing the stone have loosened or worn away or have broken. We can make that ring better by rebuilding worn and thin areas on gold, silver and platinum rings and rebuild the prong settings before you lose a stone. Prongs can be re-tipped or built-up with additional metal to securely hold your precious stones and our expert stone setter will make your ring is safe to wear again.
Repair and Modification
In our work shop we repair chains, attach charms, and repair broken or worn clasps. Bracelet links and pendant loops wear away over time and need to be built up with more gold when they become too thin before a broken link leads to loss of your jewelry..
A Loose or Twisting Ring
For customers with enlarged knuckles the hope of ever having a properly fitting ring may seem distant. A ring that's enlarged to fit over the knuckle is very loose once it's in place. Adding small internal sizing beads which are invisible from the outside can be very effective in filling the gap if the ring is not too heavy. Another inexpensive solution is an external wire spring fit to hug the finger. For a more valuable ring or one that is worn daily such as your diamond ring, the most effective and certain solution is a special shank that opens up to go on then closes to fit your finger size. Once we've seen your ring we can recommend the best solution to fit your ring's structure and your needs.
Worn hinges and connections such as those found on tennis style bracelets can be rebuilt like new and we repair worn chain links, clasps, and add safety chains or wire locks to bracelets. Our shop is equipped to do most of this work in-house and of course, we guarantee our work. Occasionally traditional soldering techniques can't be used so now we turn to laser welding, a remarkable high tech innovation that solders delicate jewelry without high heat. For the first time in history, we can restore your heirloom platinum ring by fusing new platinum where needed without using intense heat and risking damage to your diamonds. It's a terrific advance in our ability to give you the best possible result from jewelry repairs.
